Esther Doe
Esther Kim (b. 1995, South Korea), also known by her artistic moniker DOË, is a Korean-Canadian artist currently based in Toronto. Her artistic journey began in Vancouver, where she was surrounded by the breath-taking beauty of nature. Eventually, she found her way to Toronto, Ontario, and deepened her passion for painting while attending OCAD University (Ontario College of Art and Design University). Hailing from South Korea, she has traversed through Vancouver, and now calls Toronto her creative home, where her artistic talents continue to flourish.
Her works illuminates the profound beauty inherent in life’s simplest moments. Her artworks, reminiscent of painted pages in her private notebooks with grids and lines, reveal the essence of universal connections: the bonds of family, the concept of home, the enchantment of the natural world, and the shared experience of anxiety that permeates our lives. Kim’s recent works delve into the universal human struggle with anxiety, emphasizing the notion that fears are often illusions, moulded by our perceptions, and capable of dissipating like balloons in an instant.
