Slow & Sustainable

Good things take time. Slowing it down, enjoying the journey and bringing you closer to the maker is at our core. Each handmade garment is a celebration of craft, graft and process.

From flax to fabric, we are passionate about transparency in our supply chain, which we try and limit to this island. Linen is a natural, sustainable fabric, requiring little water to produce. Linen even gets better with age.

At Kindred of Ireland, we make luxury linen with heritage and heart, breathing new life into the tradition of Irish linen by creating timeless pieces with a contemporary edge.

In many ways our story begins in the blue ripple of the flax field. We’ve grown up surrounded by flaxseed meadows, listening to our grandparents tell stories of their lives at the linen mill and hearing about the transformation of flax into linen. This metamorphosis from flower to fabric has long held intrigue and continues to give us a profound respect for both nature and the expertise it takes to realise this transition.

For us, Kindred is about belonging to something bigger than ourselves. It’s about owning our heritage in the linen industry, connecting with our ancestors and protecting a positive legacy. We take the time to reflect on our values and live by them, handcrafting sustainable pieces that tread lightly, putting into practice our beliefs that fashion can be slow, that old techniques can be reimagined and that the present can harness the power of the past.

We use artisanal methods and collaborate with family run mills across Ireland to make lasting pieces with intergenerational appeal, so you can share them with your kin. Each garment is made to order allowing us to give it personal attention. Care, integrity and consideration are woven into all we do, from the intentional way we design, to our commitment in supporting survivors of human trafficking through our partnership with Flourish NI, we aim to uphold the values of our elders, and through our pieces, keep passing them on.
